For a teacher-led discussion. These fictional examples are starting points, not a safety test. You can observe, skip any scenario, or pause at any time. The activity does not ask for names, personal stories, or chat logs.

02 / Read at your pace

No timer

Each message appears when you choose to continue. There is no score and no single answer key.

Facilitator note

Make space for more than one response.

Allow about 15–20 minutes. Preview scenarios first, set a no-pressure option to observe or pass, and make the school’s reporting route clear before the conversation starts.

01

Notice

What changed in the conversation? What detail made you pause?

02

Check

What would you want to verify: the tool, the information, the school expectation, or the other person?

03

Connect

When would it help to involve a trusted person or follow the school’s safeguarding process?

Before use: choose scenarios that fit your class, tell students how to pause or leave, and add your school’s trusted-adult and reporting route. If a student shares a real concern, respond under your school’s safeguarding procedure rather than using the simulation to investigate it.

Why this activity is structured this way

It uses a progression from understanding to applying AI literacy, keeps learner judgement and agency central, and treats age and local context as part of lesson planning. These sources are frameworks and guidance, not validation studies of this activity.

Prototype reviewed October 2026. Scenarios are fictional and should be reviewed locally before classroom use.
